Noel Meney

Noel has been with Pooles for 21 years and has been a partner since 1997.  He came to Pooles from public practice in Echuca.  Noel specialises in providing business and tax advice to farming and business clients including optimising tax structures and asset protection, structuring and advising on capital gains tax small business concession eligibility.  He also consults in farm succession and estate planning.

Noel enjoys working with a broad client base and responding to the wide range and variety of their advisory needs.  Along with broadacre and horticulture enterprises, he has a broad range of commercial clients including retail, wholesale, building and construction, manufacturing, real estate, accommodation and hospitality businesses.

He is a firm believer in all staff being given the opportunity to develop to their full potential and to build close relationships with the firm's clients.

Noel and his family are active members of the local football/ netball and tennis clubs.  He enjoys the local horse racing meets and his participation in the Birchip Cropping Group (a not-for-profit, farmer driven, agricultural organisation that conducts research and extension work in the region).



Mark Reed
CPA, SMSF Auditor


Mark completed a 12 month traineeship at Pooles straight out of school in 1989.  He then headed to university and returned in 1993 as a graduate accountant.  In 2002 Mark was promoted to Partner.  He is proud of the close client relationships that he has developed over the years.

Mark's client base is predominately made up of farming clients (both broadacre and horticultural).  He also has clients in the accommodation, retail, real estate, building and construction, manufacturing and repair industries.  He believes the opportunity to work with a range of clients, across diverse industries, is part of what makes Pooles an attractive place to work. 

Mark has lived in Swan Hill since 1979.  He has been a proud and active member of the Swan Hill Football Netball Club since this time.  He played football for many years and now contributes as a committee member and enjoys watching his 2 daughters play netball for the club.  Mark also has a passion for horse racing and is a member of the Think Big Club (a club that assists the local jockey club).


Adam Laughlin

After completing University in 2001 Adam moved straight into public practice.  He came to Pooles as a Senior Manager in 2009 from another local firm.  He was attracted by the progression opportunities that Pooles offered and was promoted to Partner in 2014.

Having grown up locally, Adam has a strong interest in the industries particular to the region, including dryland farming, stone fruit production, irrigated cropping and dairy farming.

His current client portfolio includes investment, agriculture, retail, wholesale, transport, professional services and hospitality clients.  With a strong knowledge of current taxation and superannuation laws, as well as extensive business development skills, Adam prides himself on his ability to communicate complex taxation and business issues in a manner the client can easily understand.

Along with keeping active with his young family, Adam is a keen cyclist and enjoys playing tennis at the local lawn tennis club.




Troy Thamm
CPA, ATI Member


Troy joined Pooles in 2006 as a new graduate.  He was promoted to Partner on 1 July 2017.

Troy has taken a lead role in the development of Farm 360 – a Pooles initiative that provides a comprehensive farm management service linking agronomic and production advice with whole farm profitability.

He enjoys working with farming businesses in providing business and taxation advice as well as partnering with them to assist in the development of their strategic direction.  In addition to working with farming clients, Troy also works closely with a range of commercial clients in industries including building & construction, retail, manufacturing, hospitality and not for profit organisations.

Troy has a young family and is well known in the district for his football skills.  He is a long serving player of the Kerang Football Netball Club's successful 1sts football team.

Troy has a strong family connection to the firm with his father Anthony being the Branch Manager of Pooles' Kerang office for over 20 years.  Troy enjoys working closely with his team to assist businesses succeed in achieving their goals.
